Vice President of Operations

Our VP of Operations will provide oversight, management, and implementation with experience in scalability for our operational strategies and objectives to ensure the delivery and profitability of the residential solar division’s production goals. Responsible for the management, oversight, and development of multiple domestic residential solar installation fulfillment centers. Our VP of Operations must be able to coordinate, communicate, and motivate service teams across various regions with the business acumen and expertise of developing, scheduling, and maintaining complex residential solar installation projects. Our VP of Operations will interface with the managers of design, permitting, survey, installation and inspection teams (internally, as well as externally), as well as intra- departmental teams (sales, customer service, human resources, finance, etc.) and will be required to ensure the stability and success of all residential solar operations.
Dimensions:
- Multiple company locations with full installation crews along the US eastern seaboard with expansion strategy into new markets. Must have expertise in market expansion and development in the Residential Solar industry
- Direct responsibility for maintaining service fulfillment, vendor management, and operational excellence including budgeting
- Responsibility for reduction in project deficiencies, maintaining SLA requirements, employee development, state and federal compliance, OSHA guidelines/regulations, as well as corporate best standards
- Oversight of multiple operational departments including Field Operations, Corporate Operations, Fleet Management, Safety, Inventory, Procurement, and Project Management
- Short-term departmental goals include (but are not limited to): on-time delivery, cost per watt management, quality and gross margin, and staff development
- Long-term departmental goals include (but are not limited to): the formulation, planning, and implementation of strategies that will increase crew productivity and retention, mitigate project deficiencies, optimize process improvement through intra- departmental networking, and maintain excellence in service and delivery procedures
Responsibilities:
- Manage the operations function concurrent with:
- Business growth
- Introduction of new operational systems/protocols/standards
- Meeting departmental financial objectives
- Maintenance of SLA standards; maximizing productivity while mitigating loss/deficiencies
- Development and management of suppliers/vendors/sub-contractors in the pursuit of maintaining budget/waste/turnover
- Meeting divisional goals in relation to safety, quality, and on-time delivery of products.
- Assess and assist in upgrading the management talent base within operations to achieve growth and meet market needs (examples include: reduced cost, shorter manufacturing/product introduction cycle times and on-time project delivery)
- Conceive, research, plan, target, and control reductions in cost and product lead times on existing and new projects
- Manage and assist in coordinating effort between support departments within the organization
- Participate in the implementation of process improvement policies and protocols to decrease costs and promote on-time delivery
- Create a productive department through increased written and verbal communication, streamlined project management practices, and project review standards
- Is a key contributor to:
- The overall long-range planning process
- Establishment and assessment of the department’s annual operating budget and service delivery forecasting as agreed to by the company CEO
- Achievement of monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals as set forth in the budget
- OPS Reviews, covering current and future forecasts and delinquencies/deficiencies
- Achieve the division’s yearly financial objectives, for all service locations reporting to the incumbent, through planning, directing, controlling, implementing, evaluating, monitoring, and forecasting as needed to achieve budgets and cost of sales
- Project a positive image to peers and subordinates, to the customers we serve, to the industry in which we participate, and to the community in which we live by producing cost-efficient, quality products/services in a productive, responsive, and proactive environment
- Plan, prepare, control, monitor, and forecast departmental direct and/or indirect budgets
- Coordinate needed support to operations areas through intra-department interface for smooth work flow and cost-efficient product
- Continuously improve customer satisfaction through programs to reduce deficiencies, provide on-time delivery, and meet customer quality and cost expectations. Actively interfaces to communicate and facilitate customer needs within the organization.
- Participate in the implementation and management of operational service fulfillment processes, employee development and retention efforts, quality assurance protocols, as well as product and safety review
- Provide a leadership role in the integration of efforts within operations, quality, sales, and engineering for the effective introduction of new quality systems and technology within operations
- Establish, prepare, implement, revise, and maintain policies and procedures related to operations and safety protocols
- Administer and manage the company’s safety and quality to provide an adequate and safe working environment
Requirements and qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience leading a business, division or region
- 8+ years’ experience in the solar or related renewable energy industry
- Experience leading teams through significant change, growth or transformation
- Experience with scalability
- High energy, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
